Jack and Blair meet and banter on the way to greet Chuck on the way to the reading of Bart Bass’s will. Jack flirts with Blair and she rebuffs him. Jack stops flirting as soon as Chuck arrives. Nate (Chace Crawford) joins them and they head off to the reading of Bart Bass’s will.

Jenny asks Dan if their father, Rufus , and Serena’s mother, Lily are rekindling their romance in Boston. Dan tells her they are not, but will not reveal the true reason they are in Boston.

At the reading of the will, Chuck is given not only a large inheritance but also a controlling interest in his father’s company, Bass Industries. Jack is infuriated, thinking that he deserves the company over Chuck.

On the way to school, Eric (Connor Paolo) complains to Serena that Jenny is constantly intruding as a third wheel on his dates with his boyfriend. Serena tells him to be kind and patient, but then Jenny continues to impede on the boys alone time.

Serena meets an uncomfortable Dan. He continues to conceal the true reason he has been avoiding her. Gossip Girl puts out a call for dirt on Dan, for a change.

Blair gives Chuck a pep talk, and he decides to try to run the company. Jack has other plans and plots to take the company from Chuck. Stage one of the plan: Jack convinces Blair to throw Chuck a surprise brunch.

Lily and Rufus go to an adoption agency and are told that the adoptive parents are not interested in meeting them.

Dan and Vanessa buy candy, Dan tells her about the adopted child. Just as Vanessa is freaking out Dan gets verbally assaulted by Manhattan tween Gossip Girl fiends. While Dan is distracted Nelly steals Dan’s phone with the intention of finding juicy info for Gossip Girl.

Stage two of the plan: Jack convinces Chuck to ditch Blair for girls and drinks, thereby helping himself twice. Blair gets ready for a sexy evening with Chuck when he promptly bails on her for “work.”

The minions, reading Vanessa’s text to Dan, find out about Lily and Rufus’s quest to find their lovechild from back in the day.

Lily and Rufus sit and wait for the phone to ring. Lily feels guilty about missing the reading of Bart’s will. They get the call saying that the adoptive parents are not interested in meeting them.

Blair defends Chuck to Serena, saying he bailed on her because he is hard at work. Serena is pleased that Dan decided to come to brunch. Jack comes in, without Chuck, agitating Blair. They go with some of the Bass Board members and discover Chuck in another room, drugged up and surrounded by scantily clad women. Though Chuck tries to explain, the board members promptly declare Chuck an unfit leader. Jack is doubly pleased, because Blair becomes upset when Chuck lashes out and demeaningly calls her his wife.

Meanwhile, Gossip Girl reveals that Dan and Jenny share a sibling with Serena and Eric, shocking all of the brunch attendants including Serena, Jenny and Eric. Serena asks Dan if it is true, and then leaves when he reveals that it is.

Rufus still insists that he wants to meet their son, but Lily tells him to think about the consequences of meeting him. Lily gets upset, wants to leave but tells Rufus she loves him. We next see them in bed, in the afterglow, discussing old times. They get a call saying the adoptive father would like to meet with them.

Jack tells Chuck about a clause in the will allowing the board members to remove Chuck for moral reasons. Jack is in charge now.

Lily and Rufus go to meet the man who adopted their child. He reveals that his son was killed. Later, we find out that he and his wife lied to get Lily and Rufus to leave them alone.

Serena talks things over with Eric then steels herself to talk to Dan. Dan and Nate have a heart to heart, in which Nate calls Dan his friend. Sweet.

Chuck grovels to Blair, claiming a set-up. She tells him how he hurt her, and won’t give him another chance.

Serena and Dan discuss things and try to find precedent for their new complicated family relationship. He references literature, she references Clueless. Lily and Rufus come back deflated from Boston, wondering if there is any hope for their family. They enter the Brooklyn apartment to find the Humphrey and van der Woodson children laughing and having a grand time.
